DIY Holiday Look | Simplicity Pattern 9010

Hello Gems! Although this year we had to skip the Christmas and Holiday parties that didn't stop most of us from being ready... just in case! 😊 I mean we are creatures of habit.

So considering I had no event to attend this year and I dont really like making garments that sit in my closet and are not being worn, I thought I would go with something simple and create a piece that I know I could definately re-mix and wear at any time. This is something I try to do with most of the pieces I create if possible.

So I went with Simplicity pattern 9010 for this dress. It was a simple make and I even added a few hacks of my own. I cut both the front and the back the same. I used the back bodice pieces and cut them for the front also. I lengthened the dress and added the slits on both sides. For the shoulders, I added ribbon tape to the shoulder seams and stitched casing so that I could gather the shoulder up or wear it down. The fabric has some stretch to it and on a good sunny day could appear quite transparent so I also used stretch mesh as lining for this piece so that I won't have to worry about it being see through.

For this look I styled the dress with the Mood Fabrics Davallia Bodysuit pattern in navy blue stretch lace. I love a good lace top or bodysuit! These are great buildable pieces for the Fall and Winter. I made a version of this pattern in black lace and styled it on a previous blog. It's one of my favorite essential pieces for the season. I ruffled the collar and added a tie closure at the back of the neck of the bodysuit for easy closure.

Both garments are great pieces alone and together! Im not sure when "normal" will re-set and the pandemic will be over but, you can catch me on any given day wearing my makes. Why wait?? Just sayin...😘
