Hello Gems! It's Spring time and this time of year is marked with pastels, florals and even bright colors have graced the runway for the season. But what about the contrast of Black and White?
Besides the fact these are two classic colors that live together in perfect harmony. There is just something powerful and fresh about these two colors.
Usually, I would create this series with the goal of making it a cohesive series within itself. However, I thought it more beneficial to focus on the individual pieces and how to find fresh ways to wear these colors in the Spring while adding pieces to your wardrobe you can mix and match with color garments later.
Transparent Fabric
Try choosing sheer fabrics! There is something truly sophisticated about sheer black. You can layer it with black undergarments, tanks, leggings or fitted pants.

Pair with Contrasting Accessories
Pair black or white with accessories in its contrast. This is a great way to take a monochromatic look up a notch. Try adding white scarves, jewelry, handbags, hats etc. to an all black look or vice versa. For this look I took a white and Black Turkish towel/scarf and belted it with my all black look and added a structured bag in white. Just enough to make a statement!

Try Mixing Fabrics
Try mixing fabrics and choosing pieces with interesting shapes. Transparent fabrics and delicate fabrics are great for this. Garments made in juxtaposing fabrics can create a very interesting look. With this two piece look, I used a knit fabric and a light weight crinkle rayon. For the Bolero, the base is knit. I made a puff gathered sleeve from the rayon to create a little drama . The bodice of the tank dress is knit and lined in knit, the skirt is in the rayon. This dress is drapey, chic, comfortable and great for the warm weather ahead. Best part... both pieces can be worn seperately.

Choose Fluid Silohettes
Go for fluid layers! I love, love tiers on a dress or skirt any time of the year. The layers create a very elegant look and contrasting colors lend drama to dresses and skirts with simple silhouettes. In these contrasting colors. For this look I chose a thin ribbed knit. This is a very simple dress and the color contrast adds appeal.

Choose Breathable Fabrics
Go for breathable interesting fabrics! Gingham is a popular fabric for Spring and Summer. Its fresh, airy, breathable and classic. Its great on dresses, skirts, jackets, spring suits etc. I created a blazer using one of my favorite balzer patterns. Lined it in a a different black and white cotton print for interest. This makes the great Spring jacket to add to any look. I paired it with the black pants I created from the previous look and a bustier top. The looks are endless for this black and white Jacket. I can't wait to style it with color pieces from my wardrobe.
