Hello Gems! I've been having fun with denim these last couple of weeks. Creating this denim series has really shown me just how versatile denim fabric really can be! Depending on the weight, the weave, the wash, the stretch or non-stretch... you can pretty much create anything from denim and have it be a timeless piece no matter how you manipulate the fabric. So, if you haven't added any denim pieces in your wardrobe yet, be it ready to wear (RTW) or DIY, there are so many options. And it's such a great addition at any season.
As of late Ive noticed some cool monochromatic denim looks emerging. I mean I love a good jumpsuit like this one by designer Ulla Johnson .
But a two piece can be so much more versatile in a wardrobe, like this Zara look below. So, I used both as an inspiration to create my denim look!
To get the look I went for a cropped denim wide leg pant using Megan Nielson Dawn pattern. Let me just tell you, I absolutely LOVE these jeans. They are high waisted, come in a couple of different lengths, inseam styles and fly closure options. I didnt make any alterations to the pattern but I did try my hand at adding topstitching design to my back pockets. I also chose the hidden button fly for this pair. The fit was perfect for me.
The top is self drafted. I went for a simple bodice with a pleated ruffle sleeve. There are so many ways to create volume in sleeves. I went with the folds and pleats to achieve an edgier look for this cropped top, installing a separating zipper in the back bodice for closure!
I love the all denim look! And the style ideas that I get from creating looks with these pieces separately are endless!
Until Next Time!
Marcia 💋
