Easy Breezy Summer Looks with Mood Fabrics

Cottons are my favorite to work with during the hot Summer months. From linens, cotton poplins and gauze, they are breathable and make the most beautiful Summer pieces.

Recently I shared a post on my social media wearing one of my favorite ready to wear dresses from H&M. Unfortunately, they no longer sell the dress and I really wanted to remake it in a different color or print.

Moods Exclusive Horticultural Hallucination was the perfect print for this dress. It has a cool crisp hand and an airy feel. This is a breathable cotton fabric. Its great for summer dresses and blouses. The print is so vibrant against the black background, it makes a really bold statement with this print.

To construct this look I used a similar pattern from McCalls 8212 . I cut the front bodice on the fold and made the split at the back of the neck with a tie closure instead of a button like the original. I cut the front bodice of the dress at the waist and added two ruffled tiers. This was an easy piece to bring together using this pattern. The only parts I had to draft myself were the neck binding, ties, and the tiers. I used elastic on the arm hem instead of binding.

This easy summer look is great to throw on at any time. You can dress it up, wear it casual and even add more accessories. This is what I love most about this style of dress. I certainly can't wait to make this dress in more colors and prints, and share even more ways to style it.

Another great look made with Moods Grasmere Kelly Linen Woven is this two piece cropped top and pant look that I have really fallen for. I hate to say it but I don't have many linen pieces in my wardrobe, but this may be the beginning of a beautiful relationship. Just sayin...😉💋

This linen is a medium weight linen so it holds its structure pretty well while maintaining a little drape. Its great for trousers, button up dresses, shorts and even Summer blazers. I took my chances with a cropped top and a great pair of pants.

This cropped top is made from Vogue pattern 9320. I added a ruffle at the hem, tie straps and tie back. I've made this top before from a lighter weight cotton only for this look I rouched the bust through the middle and created a different effect and look.

For this project I finally was able to create the pants from Simplicity 8889. This was an easy pattern to bring together. The only alterations made to this pattern was raising the height on the waistband to create a high waist and adding two inches to the hem line. This pattern makes the perfect linen pants for Summer and Im loving the button fly. They're cool and comfortable! Ive already made plans for creating another pair this Summer.😉
